It is part of a circuit called "Circuito La Unidad", which would consist of the interconnection of a series of Avenues. Puente de la Unidad Carries Vehicles Crosses Santa Catarina River Locale Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Designer Daniel Tassin Design Cable-stayed bridge, inclined pylon, asymmetric, semi-fan arrangement Material (pylon) Concrete Total length 304 metres (1,000 ft) Width 28 to 35 metres (92 to 110 ft) Height (pylon) 134 metres (440 ft) Longest span 185 metres (610 ft) History It was finished in 2003 and has been controversial even before its completion because the river it crosses is dry almost all year long, and the cost of building this 4 lane cable-stayed bridge would be the same as for building a 6 lane conventional bridge. Frequently it was argued that the costly bridge would aid a relative few, versus spending the money for the rapid transit system of Metrorrey. Comments: 0 |
